Two Questions About Epoxy Pebblestone Answered

The epoxy pebble stone systems we use at Custom Stone Resurfacing comes with many advantages and unique features. But because the systems are so unique when compared to other common flooring types, many people have questions about its installation, impact, and longevity. With this article, we will answer two commonly asked questions about epoxy pebble stone floors.

When is the Best Time of Year to Get it Installed?

The good news is that your custom epoxy pebble stone surface can be installed truly any time of year. Of course, different conditions can affect different aspects of the installation process, though.

One thing that needs to be taken into consideration before installation is moisture and humidity levels. An experienced team, like ours at Custom Stone Resurfacing, will be able to monitor and measure these elements and accurately determine when it is okay to proceed.

Another factor that needs to be considered is the weather, since temperature can have a great impact on the curing process. If the temperatures dip too low, it can prevent the epoxy from curing properly. However, proper scheduling, planning, and equipment can mitigate these issues.

Is it Susceptible to Weed Growth?

To give a short answer: no. The nature of the sub-base of epoxy pebble stone systems prevents vegetation from growing through the surface. This is part of what makes the surface essentially maintenance-free.

In some rare cases, specifically in areas with an abundance of fertile plant life, small seeds may latch onto the porous surface and begin the first stages of germination. However, the surface will not allow the roots to fully take hold. Therefore, it is not sustainable enough for the plant to continue growing to maturity, and it will inevitably starve and wither within a short time.

This small potential issue can be avoided almost entirely by brushing the surface with a firm- bristled broom or brush with a light application of diluted detergent. Doing this every 6 - 12 weeks will scrape away most of the seeds and tiny plants.
